Nyamira County Governor H. E. Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo today hosted the Public Service and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary, Moses Kuria.
The two leaders toured a number of National Youth Service (NYS) and Vocational Training Centers (VTCs) under Mashinani programme dubbed "NYS-VTC MASHINANI" in the County.
The visitation of the projects is aimed at seeing how they can collaborate to upgrade the Vocational institutions to become NYS-VTS Mashinani centres.
Speaking at Misambi, Governor Nyaribo hailed the collaboration indicating it will tackle the issue of unemployment amongst the youth especially through the establishment of digital hubs which will create digital jobs both locally and internationally.
"This is a bold step, if we receive enough funds for infrastructure we shall revamp the poorly equipped centres to offer a conducive environment for learning and open more opportunities" Stated the Governor.
He affirmed his support for the initiative and encouraged the youth to enroll in various programmes offered in the VTCs to get suitable skills that will help them get job opportunities.
The Cabinet Secretary, Moses Kuria said that the plan is to transform NYS training by decentralizing it to the grassroots and also support the National Government agenda to enhance ICT infrastructure countrywide to aid the youth access online opportunities.
"This initiative will equip unemployed youth with skills in order to take part in National development in line with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda of Government (BETA) " , he said.
He also noted that the VTCs will recruit people to the outside countries like Saudi Arabia, Germany, Canada among others urging the students to acquire passports.
Nyamira County has 43 Vocational Training centres, The CS and Governor visited 4 Centres namely; Kioboge, Nyaigesa, Mitambo and Mwongori VTCs.
They were accompanied by National and County Government leaders.
